September is Self-Improvement Month!
What exactly does “self-improvement” mean? Well, self-improvement means to make or become better through your own efforts. Since this month is Self-Improvement Month, it’s a great time for you to look for new ways of making yourself the best you that you can possibly be! Now, you might ask: “what does self-improvement look like” or “in what ways can I improve”? I’m glad you asked because self-improvement looks different for everyone and there are many areas that you can strive for self-improvement. Some different areas for improvement include: emotional, spiritual, physical and financial.
Are you wanting some ideas for self-improvement? Here are some:
- Take a class: learn something artistic like painting, drawing or photography
- Start exercising regularly: join a class such as kickboxing, yoga or zumba
- Learn a new language
- Take up a hobby: knitting, baking, filming or climbing
- Join a group: Meetup.com is a great website for finding different groups to join
- Volunteer: work at your local humane society, work with the homeless, or read to the blind
There are many benefits to working on improving yourself. For example, you might start noticing that you have stronger relationships. Or perhaps you notice that your self-image has improved. You might have even seen that you are developing new skills and enhancing old ones.
So, I’m guessing you’re convinced that you want to start on a road to self-improvement. I know it might seem scary or overwhelming, but you can make it easier on yourself by following three simple rules.
- Have patience with yourself: changing my take some time.
- Be persistent: don’t give up.
- Make sure to persevere: tackle the obstacles that might present themselves during your journey to self-improvement.
Whether your goals for self-improvement are related to finances, spiritual aspirations, emotional guidance or physical objectives, this is the time to follow your plan. Never give up. September is the month to become a new and improved you!
