Tips for Perfect Posture
Lately, I’ve trying to learn new ways to improve my posture. I recently came across a blog post from Lauren Conrad that had some useful tips that I would like to share with all of you. In light of you following this blog because you most likely come here for chiropractic work, I thought that addressing posture would be appropriate to cover today.
As many of you know, having poor posture can lead to many health problems and effect your physique. For example, it can lead to heart strains and pinched nerves as well as an increase in belly fat and it can also create varicose veins.
Also, good posture is essential as it portrays confidence, alertness and strength, which are all key traits of success.
Here are some great tips to improve your posture. I’m going to be practicing these as well!
Tips for Perfect Posture
- Invest in an exercise ball. If you’re bound to a desk, I suggest sitting on a yoga ball. They even make yoga balls that are meant to be desk chairs as they are attached to wheels. It may look silly, but it’s so good for your core and your posture.
- Should blade exercise. Every hour, squeeze together your shoulder blades for an instant posture pick-me-up.
- Pretend you head is being pulled on a string. If you feel your head or shoulders jut forward, pull them back and act as if a string were pulling you up from the top of your head. Also imagine your shoulders are being pushed in the opposite direction.
- Get some help for your back. If you sit in a chair most of the day, try getting a back pad to add some lumbar support and keep your posture in check.
- Remind yourself that everything takes time. As with all new habits, remind yourself to straighten up and don’t berate yourself if you forget or your posture isn’t changing quickly. All good comes in time.
- If you’re sitting… Remember to keep your neck and back in line. Also, your legs should be at a 90-degree angle to your body for optimal posture and comfort.
- If you’re standing… Keep most of the weight on the balls of your feet with your neck and back in alignment, with your stomach tucked in and shoulder blades pulled back.
- If you’re lifting something… Did you know there is a proper way to lift things? Instead of bending at the waist to pick something up, it’s best to bend your knees first, and then lift.
I hope you try these tips out…I sure will!
